The
focus of these studies has varied from TMDL calculation (nutrients,
sediment, fecal coliform, metals) to more research-oriented applications
such as modeling the fate and transport of mercury
in a watershed and the impact of onsite wastewater
systems on a watershed scale. To date, Mica Creek (ID) is the smallest
watershed where WARMF was applied (28 km2, 10.8 mi2).
In this application, a comparison was made between WARMF and HSPF. WARMF
has also been applied to the 42,000 km2 (16,000 mi2)
San Juan watershed of Colorado and New Mexico as part of the ZeroNet
Water-Energy Initiative to evaulate water shortage / surplus under
varying management and climate conditions. There is no limit on the size
or scale of a potential WARMF application as long as adequate topography
data are available.
